Breathwork coaching

This page gives a brief summary of what breathwork coaching is and why I offer it. Please get in contact if you are interested in individual or group breathwork sessions.

What is breathwork?

Breathing is fundamental to life. However, during times of anxiety, distress or deep focus, we often do not breath well or pay attention to our breath, which can lead to dysfunctional breathing. When our breathing could be of help, we deplete ourselves, for instance through unconsciously holding  breath or breathing rapidly and shallowly. This is often habitual and can have negative impacts, physically and emotionally.

Through practising more conscious awareness of breath, and different types of breath practices, we equip ourselves with a range of tools that can be drawn upon when needed. For instance, when feeling worried, upset or angry, conscious breathing can help calm the nervous system, slow the heartrate and enable a pause before reacting. At times of tiredness or feeling flat, breathwork can help invigorate body systems, giving energy. And then there are breathwork practices that help balance the body system, enabling a calm alertness, ready to act, but not being reactive. Incorporating healthier forms of breathing supports the body to circulate oxygen in and around the body more effectively, helping bring improvements to general health and wellbeing.

Once you have the practices embedded, they are there to draw on and within your control when so much of life might feel out of control.
